AFSP Long Island Walk Recap

AFSP Long Island Walk Recap

This past weekend, the team had an incredible experience in Long Island. We attended the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s annual “Out of the Darkness” walk, sponsored by the Long Island Branch.

We first came into contact with the AFSP in December of 2020. After learning about their initiative and all the incredible work they do for suicide prevention, we knew we had to partner with them going forward into 2021 and beyond. Thanks to Long Island board member Sharon Rocco, and Chapter Director Ann Morrison, the team has been able to educate themselves around mental illness & suicide, along with being able to partner on a collaborative t-shirt for the event! Over 3,000 people came out to attend the walk and a staggering $400,000 dollars was raised.

The money raised by the AFSP allows them to invest in life-saving research, education, advocacy, and support for those impacted by suicide. If you would like to read more about them, please visit their site at afsp.org!
