In April 2017, when our founder Jake was a junior in high school, a tragedy hit the community. A classmate had lost their battle with mental illness, and something needed to be done. His name was Nick Spaid. Nick had dreams of being an entrepreneur and loved classic rock. Our smiley logo is named after Nick and we strive to carry on his legacy forever through the Happiness Project.

Long and lanky with a welcoming smile. A senior at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, IL . Lover of classic rock, particularly Elton John & The Beatles, and an avid vinyl collector.

He was a sweet old soul who was a friend to anyone and captivated everyone. Nick had entrepreneurial dreams and aspirations with intent to major in International Business.

Tortured by anxiety and depression, but did his best to hide it. Nick lost his battle with mental illness on April 28th, 2017. Forever 17.
